McDonalds denies McGabe burger is insensitive

3 September 2002 | Joe Stella

Fast food giant McDonalds is on the defensive after introducing an African-themed hamburger deemed insensitive by activists.

The reaction is nothing, however, to how people will feel about the upcoming “McGabe”.

The McGabe, the price of which is rising by over 100% a year, is available to ZANU-PF members only and consists of stolen maize and a large cup of stolen fuel-oil.

The burger has been attacked by Oxfam, the World Food Programme and a bunch of machete-wielding “war veterans”.

Branding experts have also criticised the McGabe, saying that there is inadequate differentiation between the president of Zimbabwe and the Hamburglar.
