Simplot yet to fire ‘Fake Tony Burke’

Communications giant Telstra insists that it hasn’t yet fired Leslie Nassar, the online satirist who embarrassed the Communications Minister with a ‘Fake Stephen Conroy’ Twitter account.

But with Mr Nassar’s dismissal thought to be only a matter of time, pressure is building on seafood processor Simplot Australia to sack the employee behind Twitter’s ‘Fake Tony Burke’.

‘Fake Tony Burke’ lampoons the Fisheries minister every few days with 140-byte updates.

Industry watchers say that ‘Fake Tony Burke’ lacks any real inspiration, given Mr Burke’s low public profile, so the bulk of the updates are just bodily functions humour.

In addition ‘Fake Tony Burke’ is not above the odd dick joke.

By contrast ‘Fake Bob McMullan’ has not been updated since the account was created last November.
