Trujillo slams racism while wearing enormous sombrero made out of tacos

26 May 2009 | Joe Stella, Jebediah Cole and Adam Yardley

The former CEO of Telstra, American-born Sol Trujillo, has hit out at Australia’s media for constantly referring to his family’s Mexican background.

Read more background from The Age.

Mr Trujillo made the comments while being interviewed aboard his Gulfstream executive donkey.

In fairness, Mr Trujillo brought the persistent stereotyping on himself by wearing an enormous sombrero made out of tacos, with salsa in the brim.

Mr Trujillo also said that travelling to Australia is like “stepping back in time”. The telco chief is understood to have been on a plan where the first 300 minutes of time travel are free.

An Australian journalist who heard the comments said that the “fat wog” was entitled to his opinion, “Chk chk boom.”
