A JetStar flight with 190 people on board has landed safely in Guam after the crew extinguished a small fire on board.
Aviation experts calculate that even if the Airbus A330 had fully combusted, the crew of the discount airline would still have been nowhere near as hot as their VirginBlue counterparts.
Those on board praised the crew as “quick-thinking”, “professional” and “not my type.”
Passengers first noticed something was wrong when they smelled burning, with one quoted by ABC News as saying that “I smelt something strange—I thought it was cooking or something burning.”
The passenger knew the plane was on fire because it was JetStar—what could they have been cooking, an overpriced Mars bar?
Discount airlines such as JetStar have boomed in recent years, with travellers getting deep discounts in return for forgoing comforts such as in-flight movies, free pillows, and the plane not being on fire.
But, for all the drama, the passengers were just happy to land safely in Guam. It’s certainly closer to Melbourne than Avalon.
Even a JetStar A330 on fire is not as hot as a VirginBlue crew member.
