Sydneysiders earn Big Macs in 14 minutes, Big Macs not available at 9.14am

It takes the average Sydneysider just 14 minutes to earn enough to buy a Big Mac, according to a survey of prices and earnings conducted by UBS, a Swiss bank.

Tragically, the Big Mac you’ve earned by 9.14am won’t be available for another 76 minutes.

Of course, if you were a real Sydneysider, you’d earn your Big Mac in 8 minutes, 20 seconds thanks to salary packaging. And the only reason you’d be caught dead in a McDonalds would be to pick up a chai latte and a friand at 1am.

Workers in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, must toil for 2½ hours to earn the same burger, a state of affairs so depressing that the fast food giant was forced to withdraw the Happy Meal.

Another report highlight was the revelation that a Mumbai resident must work for 177 hours to earn an 8GB iPod nano, and only 178 hours to have Jai Ho pre-loaded.
