Media magnate Kerry Packer is celebrating today after winning every single TV Week Logie Award at an SC-studded Supreme Court ceremony. Host Justice Peter McClellan revealed that the veteran mogul had scooped the pool in every category, from Best Actor to Best Television Series.
Mr Packer also took home gongs for technical achievement and will enter the television hall of fame.
In an emotional acceptance speech, repeated dozens of times over the course of the night, Mr Packer paid tribute to both his helicopter pilot, and longtime personal style mentor Jabba the Hut.
Mr Packer’s Australian Consolidated Press bought TV Week magazine from Pacific Publishing in August, but a dispute arose over who owned the rights to the magazine’s namesake awards, which include some of Australian television’s most coveted prizes.
Kerry Stokes of Pacific Publishing fame had to make do with runner-up in all categories.
