Visitors to Smiggin Holes village in Kosciuszko National Park are being advised to boil water after a mysterious outbreak of gastric illness at the popular resort.
The outbreak has prompted National Parks to re-issue warnings about the dangers of eating yellow snow.
As a precaution, guests are being advised to boil all water before drinking—like you went to the snow for the weekend so you could drink heaps of water.
National Parks has ruled out last week’s Lake Jindabyne sewage spill as the cause of the illness. The local council says that up to 800,000 litres of sewage spilled into the lake, at the centre of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, over three days last week. The accident caused electricity in three states to smell like poo.
So far, most victims have recovered after 12 to 18 hours, although one man remains in an induced Cooma.
