Remains of Channel Nine careers found in bushland

1 September 2011 | Joe Stella

Two reporters and a producer have been sacked and the director of news has resigned from Channel Nine in Brisbane after the station was caught faking live crosses to their helicopter.

Read more background from The Sunday Mail.

Police believe that they may have found the remains of the careers in bushland north of Brisbane.

Reporter Cameron Price, who pretended to be above Beerwah when he was actually sitting on a helipad, was one of those to be frog-marched out the door. It was later revealed that he had actually gone into the stationery cupboard.

It was previously understood that only Channel Ten had a fake Chopper, and even then, The Ronnie Johns Half Hour was cancelled four and a half years ago.

The scandal is the most damaging to hit the TV news industry since Channel 7 Adelaide was secretly filmed on the parking lot of 7 Sydney.

With 9 suitably chastened, pretending to be in a helicopter will now revert to being the exclusive preserve of radio traffic reporters.
