After the vets confirmed the eight-month-old cat had suffered a cocaine overdose, authorities were alerted. The animal was swiftly dumped from the Newcastle Knights squad.

Woollahra mayor Keri Huxley has told The Daily Grind that the story has lifted the number of Google results for “double bay” and “cocaine” to 859.

“We’re hoping for 1000 by the end of the year,” she told us, “are you publishing this online?”
