A truck loaded with explosives has been detonated outside Islamabad’s Marriott Hotel, killing at least 53 people.
In the resulting chaos, mobs looted minibar fridges.
The attack was timed to coincide with Pakistan’s holiest festival, Curry Night.
A massive security operation has been launched to track down the terrorists responsible, although this will divert resources from Pakistan carrying out its own terror attacks in India.
Travellers in South Asia are advised to stay well away from places where tourists might gather including restaurants, nightclubs and the queue for the bathroom.
