Pakistani ‘Police Academy’ ends in 18 deaths

1 April 2009 | Joe Stella

Security forces in Pakistan have retaken a police academy outside Lahore after the compound was seized by militants.

Read more background from BBC News.

The militants are understood to be a group of zany misfits, apparently unsuited to any kind of police work, who somehow managed to find their way inside the academy.

Authorities, led by ambitious antagonist Lieutenant Mauser, were able to retake the academy, but not without subjecting onlookers to almost two hours of hi-jinks and mixups including a riotous scene in which 18 people died.

Pakistan’s government has vowed to crack down on militant groups and introduce more plotlines involving villainous jewel thieves.
