Rapist Allan Troy Hill, 43, is back in gaol after allegedly attempting to flush an $8000 electronic ankle monitor down the toilet.
There can be no clearer indication that the cistern has failed.
Mr Hill’s alleged actions have bought him two very powerful enemies: Corrective Services Commissioner Ron Woodham, and Sydney Water.
In contesting the original supervisory order, Mr Hill told the court that wearing an ankle monitor would prevent him from playing footy. In fairness, having been in gaol for the past 10 years, Mr Hill is probably unaware that rugby league is now considered a serious sex offence.
Civil libertarians have questioned the need for Mr Hill’s ankle to be monitored by the state, especially since it wasn’t his ankle that was the problem.
Other conditions of the supervisory order included a ban on entering pubs and a requirement that police inform any girlfriends that he’s a sex offender. Mr Hill had argued for the opportunity to tell the women himself, perhaps over dinner this Friday? Shall we say 7?
