A KFC franchisee has been ordered to pay $15,000 compensation to a teenage employee who was sexually harassed by her manager at the fast food giant’s Punchbowl store.
The employee’s complaint alleged that an assistant manager had constantly made reference to her breasts and thighs.
At one point, he also referred to something called a “hot box”.
The compensation will be paid in 1,531 hourly instalments of $9.80.
But the victim has complained that the penalty doesn’t go far enough, saying of the manager, “I hope he fries for this.”
KFC’s female employees are hopeful that nothing will now prevent them from working at the fast-food restaurant with dignity—apart from the uniforms, the customers, the employment conditions and the nature of the work.
The Daily Grind understands that the assistant manager’s career will now hit a roadblock: he is unlikely to advance beyond the store’s second-highest rank, lieutenant-colonel.
One brave KFC employee demanded dignity in a restaurant that expects patrons to eat out of a bucket.
