The Queensland Government has decided not to award a flood hero gong to a former rapist after uncovering his criminal record. Bob Riddler, 54, served a total of 12 years over a 1997 rape and a 1999 armed robbery.
Said Mr Riddler, “I’m trying to give something back and this is a kick in the guts.” Or, perhaps more accurately, a real cock in the vagina.
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh decided to strip Mr Riddler of his award after consulting with the arresting officer, Batman.
“I hope he understands,” she said of her decision to uninvite him from the awards ceremony. The premier is also confident that Mr Riddler won’t notice she’s unfriended him on Facebook.
Mr Riddler later told The Daily Grind that “I suppose ‘Australian of the Year’ is out of the question, then?”
