The New Zealand Herald reports that Hillary has died at 88.
Fresh from an upset win in the New Hampshire primaries, Hillary was reportedly in high spirits.
Prime Minister Helen Clark praised Hillary’s work in conquering the Granite State after a devastating third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. Hillary “lived a life of determination, humility, and generosity,” Clark told reporters.
The woman who had hoped to serve as America’s first female president was “the best-known New Zealander ever to have lived,” Clark said.
Concluded Clark, “Most of all [Hillary] was a quintessential Kiwi ... from [her] craggy appearance and laconic style to [her] directness and honesty.”
