A Limpinwood Brahman bull called Barney floated 87km in seven hours down flooded creeks and into the Tweed River yesterday, The Adelaide Advertiser reports.

University of North Whitlam researchers have received a grant to acquire Barney and study his unusual properties with a view to breeding Brahmans for lighter than air flight.
Experts in Defence Department procurement procedures are studying military applications, although one day in the project is already ten years behind schedule due to problems integrating the bulls’ combat systems.
Funding has already been allocated to build factories in Adelaide and Newcastle to modify Joint Strike Fighters for uniquely Australian conditions.
“Once the Yanks and Brits get the JSF to work, we’ll modify it to suit Australian defence requirements,” Air Vice-Marshal Bigglesworth told The Daily Grind, “and strapping a Brahman bull to it might be just the thing. Tally ho!”
