Once again, our national day has been sullied by the hateful tirades of the environmentalist few, single-minded bigots intent on hanging a no-vacancy sign on our great nation.

Though police fears that the unrest would grow into a repeat of the global warming marches seen in recent years proved unfounded, Sydneysiders must still come to terms with the fact that Malthusian environmentalism is alive and well.

With their outmoded notions of continental ‘carrying capacity’ and their allegiance to discredited demagogues such as Thomas Malthus and Tim Flannery, these eco-warriors want to pull up the drawbridge and wall Australia off from the world.

It is time for the silent, tolerant majority to clearly express what should go without saying: that population growth has made Australia great. And whatever genuine environmental issues we may face, overpopulation is simply not one of them. We’re “full”? Fuck off.
