Pro-nationalisation unions want to hand Rudd’s popularity back to the government

A group of five major left-wing unions is pushing Federal Labor to increase taxes and limit the reach of the private sector in infrastructure development, The Australian has reported. The unions’ proposal will be debated at Labor’s party conference.

It is an article of faith on the left that Labor leader Kevin Rudd should be forced to hand the popularity he has earned himself back to the government.

Union leader Doug Cameron told The Daily Grind “If Kevin remains so much more popular than other potential prime ministerial candiates, we’re creating a society of haves and have-nots.”

“We didn’t walk the hungry mile just so we could win government.”

“Marx foreshadowed this.”
