Labor only hostile to legitimate businesses

Labor’s shadow attorney-general has been dumped after admitting he wrote a reference for fugitive crime boss Antonios “Fat Tony” Mokbel, The Australian has reported.

Kelvin Thomson’s support for Mr Mokbel shows that Labor is prepared to build bridges with the business community where possible.

A key sticking-point in Labor’s relationship with Mokbel was the mobster’s insistence on issuing contracts on individuals.

Labor leader Kevin Rudd can be thankful that Mr Thomson has no recourse to unfair dismissal laws—and at no stage met with Brian Burke.
