A 57-year-old Swiss man faces up to 75 years in a Thai prison after being accused of defacing portraits of the country’s revered monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, BBC News reports.
Bhumibol, who has enormous ears and dresses like a girl, is such a big man he has to hide behind draconian lèse majesté laws that prohibit criticism of the royal family.
For example, it would be illegal to point out that King Bhumibol is a chicken-shit little autocrat who’s made fuck-all contribution to public policy. Or that all his medals and sashes make him look like a wizened, out-of-touch Christmas tree.
Questions it is illegal to ask of the king in public concern his role in last year’s coup d’etat, alternatives to his family’s constitutional role and homosaywhat?
