Govt delivers historic 55-page booklet

1 March 2008 | Joe Stella

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has launched a 55-page booklet detailing his government’s achievements to date, AAP has reported. Next Monday marks 100 days since last year’s federal election.

Read more background from Australian Associated Press.

“If we can write all this booklet in 100 days,” Mr Rudd told The Daily Grind, “just imagine what we can do before calling an early election next year.”

Mr Rudd wouldn’t be drawn on whether publication of the next 100-day booklet would fall before or after any planned early election.

Among Mr Rudd’s achievements are the establishment of two dozen inquiries and committees, and the Apology.

“And if that’s not enough for you, well I’m sor-ry.”

Mr Rudd reminded AAP that the previous government had eroded trust in politics after finding itself unable to implement many of its “non-core” promises, although the Prime Minister was hazy on exactly who had been covering up the size of the deficit beforehand.

Mr Rudd told The Daily Grind that the core/non-core division was typical. “Can you believe they then had the temerity to crap on about how shitty the previous government was? No-one buys into that sort of thing, something the Coalition didn’t learn for 11-and-a-half years.”
