US President George Bush has joined calls for Turkey to withdraw troops from northern Iraq as soon as possible, Reuters has reported.
The Daily Grind has seen advance copies of op-ed columns for the Age, New York Times and Guardian in which left-wing writers claim that Turkey is made out of plastic.
The idea that Turkey is made out of plastic will quickly gain traction among bloggers even when the newspapers have retracted the story. Some will conclude that an entire moderate-Muslim republic of 70 million people turning out to be fake is somehow emblematic of the Mr Bush’s presidency.
From here, plastic Turkey will reach the status of universal cultural-reference point for the Left. Already, Daily Show writers are working to find an out-of-context quote in which Mr Bush seems to imply that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was killed by Saddam Hussein.
