Embattled West Australian Liberal leader Troy Buswell has survived a party-room move to dump him. Mr Buswell has admitted to sniffing the chair of a female staffer and making lewd remarks.
With a state election campaign likely later this year, Mr Buswell has pledged that from now on the only seats he’ll be sniffing are Kingsley, Darling Range, Bunbury, Collie-Preston, Ocean Reef, Riverton, North West, Forrestfield and Jandakot.
Depending on how well the campaign is going, he may also be in a position to sniff Swan Hills, Joondalup, Southern River, Mount Lawley, Wanneroo, Kimberley and Mindarie.
The opposition has seemingly failed to recover credibility after their disasterous 2005 campaign pledge to build a giant canal to bring water to Perth from Triton, the icy seventh moon of Neptune. The government continues to reek of corruption and influence-peddling.
And with Premier Alan Carpenter now facing sexual harrassment allegations of his own, West Australians will have a hard time deciding whether Labor or the Liberals offer their a safe pair of wandering hands.
