Washington insiders vote against ‘Washington insiders’ 93-7

Democrat Barack Obama and his campaign against “Washington insiders” have stormed to victory in the US Presidential election—in the process winning the District of Columbia by 86 points.

Obama campaign insiders say that their popularity inside the Beltway was a major disappointment, given that opposition to ‘Beltway insiders’ was a major plank of their campaign.

The mood in the District tonight is electric, with thousands of residents in the streets celebrating the end of their control over the country’s politics and keenly anticipating an end to their grubby business-as-usual politics.

In one of the most exciting nights in US political history, thousands packed victory parties nationwide calling for change; while the Obama camp and Congressional Democrats renewed their promises of “change.”

District voters made history in the race for the Congressional delegate seat, with Democrat Eleanor Holmes Norton becoming the first black woman to represent DC in Congress since she was re-elected two years ago.
