States-rights campaigner exploiting lack of loophole in constitution

Law lecturer and states-rights campaigner Bryan Pape has launched a High Court action aimed at stopping distribution of the Federal Government’s planned $900 “stimulus” handout.

The court case has infuriated officials, who grumble that Mr Pape has looked at constitutional spending powers and is merely exploiting the lack of any loopholes.

The government hopes to defeat Mr Pape’s action by citing the ancient legal principle of it would inconvenience our printers.

There is still scope for an out-of-court settlement under which Mr Pape would get, oh, maybe $900.

With High Court justices now set to rule on the validity of the handout, the government must surely rue the day it decided to cut out those earning over $100,000.
