New South Wales Ports Minister Paul McLeay has resigned after being caught visiting pornographic and gambling websites on his office computer.
“This behaviour is not the standard expected of ministers”, Mr McLeay quipped.
Premier Kristina Keneally acted quickly to end Mr McLeay’s ministerial career, believing that the best cure for a porn addiction is to give the guy loads more spare time.
In future, Ms Keneally will also be less tolerant of ministers who, when she goes to their offices, keep the door closed and yell “don’t come in—I’ll be out in a minute”.
To his credit, when confronted with the evidence of his indiscretion, Mr McLeay admitted to misusing parliamentary resources: about 90MB of data and six Kleenex.
Mr McLeay told the media that he had been “humiliated” by the episode, later adding that this was his fetish.
And who among us can honestly say we haven’t fantasised about having a blonde woman tell us we’re worthless scum and that “this is the last thing we need, Paul”?
Mr McLeay joins a long line of disgraced NSW Labor ministers including all of them.
