Luckily, authorities were able to act before the 32-year-old particle physicist was able to blow up any particles.

The discovery of an al-Qaeda operative inside a facility designed to probe the innermost secrets of the cosmos has given rise to speculation that the terror network’s next target will be the universe.

When it opened last year, some suggested that the Large Hadron Collider would open a black hole and destroy Earth, so it’s not clear if the man’s plan was just to keep showing up for work.

Authorities have moved to reassure the public, saying that the risk of a terrorist attack on a sub-atomic particle is very, very small.
